A mother who tragically died after falling from the 22nd floor of a Gold Coast balcony was mourning the sudden death of her boyfriend.

Mariah Huthmann Grace fell from the Condor Ocean View Apartments in Surfers Paradise about 1am on Tuesday.

The mother-of-six has been remembered as bubbly, family orientated and ‘so, so loved’ by devastated family and friends.

Her father John Grace returned to his home in Adelaide this week, just days before Ms Huthmann Grace’s death, and is now unable to return to Queensland due to Covid restrictions.

The state was plunged into six days of strict lockdown – with some of the world’s toughest restrictions – after 23 new cases of Covid were identified in three days.

Mr Grace revealed he is now stuck in the total lockdown and likely won’t make it back to Queensland in time for his daughter’s funeral.

‘When it rains it pours,’ he said. ‘If I go to Queensland, then I’m in two weeks of lockdown at my own expense of $3,000.’

‘I’ll miss my own daughter’s tangi… I’m shattered again.’

Her heartbroken family are still trying to piece together exactly what led to her death.

One of her seven siblings indicated Ms Huthmann Grace been struggling in the lead up to her death.

‘We will miss you little sis… We love you and we are so sorry we couldn’t be there more for you,’ Jayson Huthmann Grace said on Wednesday afternoon.

‘Anybody who knew Mariah knew she lived life in the fast lane… Although I didn’t always agree with some of her lifestyle choices she had a heart of gold.’

He said his younger sister ‘always meant well’ and was usually an open book, making the loss all the more difficult.

One of her friends told Daily Mail Australia she was ‘incredibly strong’ but mourning the loss of her partner and the father of her daughter.

‘She was strong. A family orientated girl with a big heart who loved her kids and partner,’ the woman said.

She explained that Ms Huthmann Grace’s partner, Trent, had recently died and that she was still grappling with the loss.

She planned an event to celebrate his ‘heavenly’ 28th birthday on Sunday December 6th, encouraging friends and family to go ‘go karting’ at his ‘favourite place’ before writing notes into balloons and releasing them into the sky to say goodbye.

Parents were encouraged to bring along their children and to allow them to sit in the side karts on the racing track, just as Trent used to do with their baby, Lleyton.

‘Lleyton used to love going with his daddy,’ she said when organising the event.

Police aren’t treating Ms Huthmann Grace’s death as suspicious, but will continue to investigate the circumstances of her fall.

One other adult was in the apartment at the time of her death, a Queensland Police spokesman confirmed on Thursday.

It is not clear if any children were present.

Another friend of the victim said Ms Huthmann Grace’s death was a ‘horrible shock’ which would devastate swathes of the Gold Coast community.

‘It has saddened me and will do to a lot of other people here on the Gold Coast.’

Mr Grace first announced his daughter’s death in a tribute on Wednesday.

‘It is of a shattered heart that I announce the passing of my daughter Mariah Huthmann Grace,’ he wrote.

‘I don’t know what else to say, my heart is broken. And my love goes out to my kids, Jamie, Fiona, Che, Lee-Roy, Jayson, Levi and Lawrence and to my kids’ mum Necia Amanda Huthmann. Kia kaha. Love Dad.’

The family have started a GoFundMe account to help raise money for costs associated with the funeral.

South Australia forced into six-day lockdown as community Covid cases spike

South Australia was plunged into a strict six-day lockdown after the state identified a Covid outbreak within the community.

As a result, state borders were reintroduced in Western Australia, Northern Territory, Tasmania and Queensland to stem the spread of the virus.

Under Covid border restrictions in Queensland, the 22 LGAs in and around Adelaide have been declared Covid hotspots, meaning anyone in the region cannot freely travel to Queensland.

The restrictions will remain in place until the region has recorded 28 consecutive days of no Covid transmission.

If Mr Grace wants to return to Queensland, he will be ordered to undergo mandatory hotel quarantine at his own expense.

Even then, he will remain in quarantine for 14 days.
